Shoulders (traps), neck, and the upper back muscles have a tendency for tension, especially for those who carry stress in their neck. For many, this may become painful, irritating, and could make it hard to sleep.
Here’s an old school method to massage out those kinks, knots, and aches:
You’ll need:
- A tennis ball
- A wall
Step 1. Lean your back against a wall.
Step 2. Place the tennis ball between your back and the wall, holding the tennis ball in place.
Step 3. Lean into the tennis ball, rolling it around to apply pressure to specific areas of soreness.
Tips:
The ball can be moved up to your neck, even all the way up to your head, or down as far as the middle-lower back.
This technique can also be applied to the glutes, feet, or any muscle capable of pushing against a tennis ball.
Try working the ball on the inside of your back, around your shoulder blades.
